Dr Plamen Penev - Specialist in Dermatology and Venereology

Dr Plamen Penev is an experienced dermatologist with over 10 years of clinical practice in medical, surgical, laser and aesthetic dermatology.

He has been practicing at The Adare Clinic since 2019.

He graduated in Medicine from Trakia University, Bulgaria, and completed a five-year full-time specialist training programme in Dermatology and Venereology at the University Clinic of Dermatology and Venereology, MBAL “St. Kirkovich”, Stara Zagora.

Over the course of his five-year specialist training, Dr Penev gained extensive hospital-based experience in general dermatology, paediatric dermatology, autoimmune and inflammatory skin disease, skin cancer, dermoscopy, dermatosurgery and sexually transmitted diseases. He was awarded his specialist qualification after successfully passing the final state examination at the Dermatology Department of the Military Medical Academy, Sofia.

From2017 to 2019, Dr Penev worked atLege Artis Dermatology Centre, Bulgaria, one of the country’s leading laser dermatology and aesthetic clinics, where he received further advanced training inlaser dermatology, aesthetic medicine and injectable treatments.He has continued extensive postgraduate education, including:

Dr Penev is a member of theIrish Medical Council (IMC), The European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) and The European Society for Lasers and Energy Based Devices (ESLD).

His clinical interests include general dermatology, skin cancer diagnostics, laser dermatology, minor skin surgery, aesthetic dermatology including dermal fillers and botulinum toxin treatments, as well as mole screening, dermoscopy, acne, rosacea, psoriasis, eczema, hair loss, scar management and skin rejuvenation procedures.
